Cupid’s Arrows – Mel Sherratt

Today, it’s Mel Sherratt’s turn to choose a target for Cupid. I feel it’s only fair to warn you, Mel, that Alexandra Brown and Sasha Wagstaff almost came to blows over one of your choices so – er – watch your back, OK?

“I suppose you’ll guess that my Cupid’s arrow would have to be aimed at a bad boy. And as a bad girl, I wouldn’t just have one arrow – I’d have three. My first would be aimed directly at Tom Hardy, who caught my attention in the TV adaptation of Martina Cole’s, The Take. He was mean old Freddie and oh my was he mean – a bit too violent if I’m honest, but I’m sure my Cupid’s arrow aimed at his heart would make him a bit nicer!

My next one would be Warren Brown who plays DS Ripley in Luther and recently had the lead role in Good Cop. I had the utmost pleasure of meeting and chatting to him at Theakstons Old Peculiar Crime Writing Festival last year. He is such a fabulous actor, sprinkling the emotion in between the bad bits too.

Finally, there would be John Simm. Another man to melt my heart. I adored him in Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes.

If I could ever have Taunting the Dead adapted for television, I’d like them all to play parts in it. I even know what parts I’d like them to play. Obviously, I’d have to oversee everything – you know, make sure the dressing rooms were up to scratch, ahem.”

Thanks, Mel! I’m sure Cupid won’t mind granting you three arrows when they’re all so lovely!

Mel’s smash hit book is Taunting The Dead

Statistics say nine out of ten murders are committed by someone the victim knows. So when Steph Ryder is found dead with her head caved in, Detective Sergeant Allie Shenton begins investigations close to home, starting with the victim’s family and friends.

As each one tries to cover up their actions on that fateful night, Allie becomes convinced husband Terry Ryder has something to hide. Powerful, ambitious and charming, Allie’s attraction to the successful businessman grows with each interrogation, risking both her job and marriage. But he’s not the only one she’s investigating. Secrets and lies begin to escalate as quickly as the body count. Can Allie uncover the truth before her life not only falls apart, but before she ends up a victim, too?

TAUNTING THE DEAD is a sexy, gritty, fast paced thriller that will set your pulse racing, twist and turn you in every direction and leave you guessing right until the very end…

Cupid’s Arrows – Gemma Burgess

Gemma Burgess is wielding Cupid’s big bow of love today and she’s gone for an eighties style icon:

“Who would I like to shoot with Cupid’s golden arrow of love?

I like the phallic nature of this question. I have spent the past ten minutes picturing myself wielding said gigantic golden love-arrow. I think I would be quite a thoughtful arrow-wielder, you know, gentle, but knowing, and forceful where it counts. Yes… Hmm? What? Right! The question.

So who would I like to spear first?

Stef from Pretty In Pink.

I dig the frosted tips. I dig the combination of waxed chest, an unbuttoned shirt and a white blazer. I dig the Lady Di blowout.

I dig the cigarette dangling so precariously from his perfect lips, the oversize aviators, and the attitude that envelops him like eighteen spritzes of Paco Rabanne.

And most of all, I dig the entitled-self-loathing-sociopath personality. You just KNOW he’s great in bed. (You think Andrew McCarthy’s Blaine would be great in bed? No, darling. Blaine would weep at the moment of consummation and make you spoon him afterwards. In other words, a total deviant.)

Lastly, if there is one thing that I do before I die, it will be to mimic this exact pose in a publicity photo. I mean it.”

Thanks, Gemma! Those loafers…what were the eighties thinking?

Gemma’s new book is Brooklyn Girls

Jobless. Clueless. Topless on Facebook.

Welcome to New York City.

Pia Keller is not living the dream. Unemployed, unemployable and broke, post-Uni life in a Brooklyn townhouse with her four best friends suddenly isn’t so easy.

And that’s before heartbreaks, hipsters, all-nighters, one-nighters, food trucks, screw-ups, loan sharks and jail-time make things a whole lot more complicated…

Who knew adulthood would be so damn grown-up?

Fans of Tammara Webber, Colleen Hoover and Abbi Glines are about to find their new favourite author…
