Cupid’s Arrows – Sasha Wagstaff

It’s Sasha Wagstaff’s turn to wield Cupid’s arrows today and she’s chosen someone very delicious indeed:

“Wow, you mean I can really pick someone to take a shot from Cupid’s arrow?? Brilliant. It didn’t take me long to choose someone and here he is – the delectable Tom Hardy.

I first noticed Tom Hardy when he played Heathcliff in the 2009 adaptation of Wuthering Heights. I was keen to see this ITV adaptation as Wuthering Heights, with its focus on love, hate, obsession and revenge, is one of my favourite novels. At first, I wasn’t sure if I liked it, to be honest. I liked the fact that it was closer to the original novel in terms of the spotlight being very much placed around Cathy and Heathcliff, but I kept thinking: Who’s that weirdo playing Heathcliff?  He looks odd, not the way I have previously seen the character portrayed, but I was slowly won over.

Tom Hardy made Heathcliff seem dangerous, passionate and thoroughly tortured – maybe helped by the fact that he’d met his future, real-life wife in Charlotte Riley as Cathy – who knows! Since then, I have kept a close eye on everything Tom Hardy might appear in, just, you know…because. An amazing actor and a bit of a hottie to boot. The classic guilty pleasure.

So Cupid – if you’re available, do your thang and send Tom my way. If only for a nice cuppa and a chat about books and stuff.”

Thanks, Sasha! I love his voice – he could incept me any day…

Sasha’s latest book is Recipe For Love

Talented, passionate and notoriously private, Italian chef Rocco Disanti never talks to journalists. So why, when Cassia Blake has just three months to organise her wedding, has he suddenly granted her magazine an exclusive, all-access interview? Against Cassia’s better judgement, she hands the wedding planning over to her frosty mother-in-law, and flies out to Italy to spend time with Rocco. But Rocco isn’t exactly looking forward to Cassia’s arrival. Persuaded to do the interview to help publicise his business, he has enough on his plate with his fiery girlfriend, wedding-obsessed sister and fiercely protective grandmother. And now it seems as if someone is trying to sabotage his restaurants too… Cassia’s summer in Sorrento is shaping up to be a recipe for disaster. But could it also be a recipe for love?
